Basscast Episode 006 – Practicing, Running and Hockey

Basscast cover art for episode six

Basscast Episode 006 is all about practicing bass guitar as well as what you need to do away from your instrument to stay inspired and stay sane!

Basscast is a weekly show with myself (Mike Ippersiel) and Jason Raso (of www.jasonrasomusic.com) where we talk about bass, business, marketing and lifestyle.

In this episode, we focus a little bit more on the lifestyle stuff…

Jason is a full time bassist who divides his time between performing, teaching and composing new tunes. When he’s not doing any of those things, he also has to keep his chops sharp by learning new things…and handling the business end of being a professional musician.

So we thought it might be helpful to hear about how  Jason does all of this stuff while staying sane! What’s his secret? You actually have to put the bass guitar down and clear your mind of anything to do with it.

Jason’s personal favorite ways to do this involve running and watching hockey – but your escape from bass could be completely different – to each his/her own.

Find out more about why it’s important to take a break from the bass every so often, as well as how to approach a regular practice routine as well. Plus the occasional quip and bit of humor that creeps into each and every episode!
